Lakota East baseball looks to turn the tide and win their first GMC title since 2011. They return key pitchers, Connor Klemm (Sr.), Noah Milburn (So.), and Logan Cole (Jr.). The added the addition of LHP Trieg Matthews (Sr.) who returned to Lakota East from Fenwick High School. Trieg is continuing is Academic and Athletic career at the University of Akron next year. Offensively, they return a big core group. Gianni Lora (Sr.) is back and looking to build on an impressive season, where he led the GMC in homeruns (6) and finished second in RBI’s (29). Catcher Brayden Reinhart (Jr.) is back for his second season. Last year he finished second in batting average, hitting .385 as a sophomore. He finished third is runs scored (29). Gavin Byrd looks to make the move to Shortstop in his Junior season. Last year, he hit .357, 9th in the GMC. Donovan Corbett (Jr.) is also back for his third season. Last year he finished 6th in runs scored while only playing in 24 games. Coach Rindfleisch had this to say about Corbett, “Dono, is a physical specimen. He has tools that cannot be taught. He made a huge jump last year. We are looking for him to take another huge step forward. It isn’t often you have a chance to work with a 5 Tool guy.” New additions to the lineup include Carson Shroyer (Jr.), Brody Gilligan (Jr.) and Kyan Shanks (Jr.) who are in their first year with the program. “We are looking forward to competing and playing a new style of baseball. We put a lot of time on physicality this offseason and it shows. These boys have put the work in and are ready to go. The amount of joy they have for each and every day is fun to be around. We have a great group of kids who have spent the time to better themselves as players but more importantly as young men.” The Thunderhawks start their season March 29 vs. Moeller at Kremchek Stadium (1:00).
