The 2025 Lakota East Track and Field team returns this outdoor season eager to compete for a championship. The men and women return with key sprinters, distance runners, and field event specialists who are a great mix of strong talent across the board.
The sprints & hurdle group is led by Head Coach Rodney Heath, along with coaches Kimberly Heath, and Mike Dwyer. Seniors Heaven Wills, Ivy Smith, Haylie Yeazel, Katlyn Pham and Mo Gueye return to lead a determined group of talented sprinters and hurdlers to a GMC title. These seniors have deep postseason experience and look to finish stronger in 2025 at the state championship.
Juniors Mikaylah Chandler and Qiersten McClain will also be key contributors in the sprints and hurdle group. Mikaylah was a state qualifier her freshman year in the 100m hurdles and was a huge factor on both state finalist 4x200 & 4x100 relay teams as a freshman. We can’t wait to see how much she has improved as she looks to crash the podium at state this spring. Qiersten is another huge factor to the squad in the 400m. She was a major factor for our 4x400 relay, which was a podium finalist at the state championship in 2024. Qiersten looks to be a key contributor for our 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams as well..
The distance group is led by coaches Ben Reimer and Dustin Horter. The boys distance team looks to have one of its strongest years in recent memory. Senior Blake Gibbs looks to establish himself as one of the best milers in the state, while junior Reilly Meyer will remind everyone that he is a force to be reckoned with in the two mile. Senior 800 specialist Matthew Slone is also looking to make noise this season. All three boys find themselves in the top 4 in school history in their respective events, and look to combine efforts to avenge their performance in the 4x800 at Regionals last May.
The girls' distance team is once again lead by the three-headed monster of Molly Deardorff, Ava Dickenson, and Elise Brown. Molly and Ava both have proven to be one of the best duos of distance runners in the state, and expect to be competing at the state championship in June. Elise Brown looks to return with a vengeance and have a strong bounce back year in the 800.
Lakota East Throws, led by coach Corbin Smith, looks to go and throw further than ever before this season. Built on a foundation of senior leadership and experience, this year’s group of throwers is excited to begin their 2025 season!
Senior Jackson Kusmer leads the Boys Discus Team with goals of setting the Lakota East High School Record and competing for the chance to throw at the State Championships Meet.
Sophomore Bailey Bacher (Girls Shot Put) looks to remain at the top of the leaderboards again this season on her quest to also reach the State Championships Meet.
Senior Seated Shot Put thrower Landyn Bomar looks to repeat as Ohio’s Seated Shot Put State Champion and set the State record for seated Shot Put along the way!
The team is excited to welcome a large group of underclassmen back this year as we continue to grow and develop as a program.
