East Boys Basketball punched their ticket to the District Championship on Wednesday, defeating West Clermont 64-29 in a blowout win at Mason HS. A surging offense and stingy defense led the Hawks to a first half 39-17 lead. The second half was just more of the same. Trey Perry, who was recently named the District 15 Player of the Year, led East with 27 points on 11-13 shooting from the field (3-3 from the 3-point line). JJ Smith got into the scoring action also tossing in 10.
East (16-7) will now face #1 seed Centerville (14-8) in the District Title game on Saturday, back at Mason. Tipoff is slated for 12:00 pm. East last won a District Championship in the 2019-2020 season which saw the tourney being canceled due to Covid-19. The Hawk Boys have won 4 District Titles in their program history.
Saturday's winner will advance the Regional Sweet 16 at the Cintas Center on Wednesday, 3/5 6:00 pm vs either Elder or Fairfield in the Regional Semi-finals.
