The East boys basketball team upset Princeton on Friday night by a score of 57-54. It was another "special" win by the Hawks on the Viking's home court. East led most of the game until the final few minutes. Princeton looked like they were going to hand the Hawks a disappointing loss with less than 5 seconds remaining. But senior Julian Mitchell buried a long three-pointer to even the score and send the game to overtime.
East took charge in the 4-minute OT, hitting big baskets and sinking free throws to shock the Vikings. It was every bit a "heart and soul" win for the Thunderhawks.
Leaders for East: Trey Perry 15, Derek Johnson 14, Lebron Powell 11, and Tyler Bachman 11. Perry added 6 assists.
Next up, East (7-7, 5-4) will look to sweep the visiting Firebirds on Friday, January 20th.
