The rain held off at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, and the Lakota East Cross Country team saw some good conditions for racing which led to many lifetime and season-best performances. The men’s team placed a very respectable 4th out of 14 teams, even without their top 2 runners in the lineup.
The Hawk men were led by junior Sean Castillo who ran a huge lifetime best performance to place 11th overall in a 106-runner field. Sean’s time was 17:08.2 for the 5k (3.1-mile) course. Senior Ashton Gibbs was back in action, after a short injury layoff, to place 15th overall in a season-best time of 17:18. Junior, Jake Boeskool, ran another personal record of 17:37 to place 21st overall.
Right behind Jake was freshman Evan Aponte who placed 22nd overall. Evan ran a personal-best time of 17:45. The 5th and final scorer for the Thunderhawks were junior Andrew Gibson, who ran a season-best time of 17:55 to place 26th overall.
Next up for Lakota East Cross Country is the King's Duals at Kingswood Park on October 2nd. The men will batter Kings at the event.
