BOYS CROSS COUNTRY OPENS SEASON
The Lakota East men raced in tough conditions at Fortress Obetz on Saturday. The Thunderhawk men placed a very respectable 19th out of 43 strong teams.
The senior duo of Asthon Gibbs and Will Tenoever led the way for East. Gibbs placed a strong 48th out of 378 runners. His time was 17:33 for the 5k (3.1-mile) course. Tenoever was right behind Gibbs in 49th place in 17:36. Junior, Marshall Novean was the 3rd finisher for Thunderhawks, placing 112th in a time of 18:19. Junior, Sean Castillo had an impressive 2021 debut finishing in 18:56 which placed in 172ndoverall. Senior, Nathaniel Hoelscher ended the scoring for the Hawks by placing 184th overall in a time of 19:00.
Lakota East cross country’s full squad will be back in action next Saturday in their home meet, the Lakota East Fall Classic at Voice of America Park. The Junior High teams start racing at 8:00 a.m., followed by the High School teams at 9:00 a.m.
