The Lakota East Varsity Cross Country teams improved on their performances this week at the Lakota East Fall Classic at Voice of America Park, despite running in wet, sloppy conditions.
The Thunderhawk men placed 3rd out of 13 teams, behind Miamisburg and Turpin. Leading the way for East was senior, Will Tenoever, who placed 6th overall in 17:08 for the 5k (3.1-mile) course. 108 athletes were entered in the men’s varsity race. Junior, Marshall Novean, and senior, Ashton Gibbs, w.ere close behind in 10th and 11th place overall running 17:21 and 17:26 respectively. Junior Sean Castillo continued his breakout season with a 26th place finish in 18:24. Senior, Brandon Moore rounded out the scoring in 27th place in 18:30.
The Thunderhawk men’s Open team had an impressive clean sweep in the Open race, placing 1-5 and scoring a perfect 15 points. Those 5 athletes were junior Tyler Linam (1st, 18:19), junior Andrew Gibson (2nd 18:28), freshman Blake Gibbs (3rd, 18:51), freshman Evan Aponte (4th, 18:52), and freshman Adam Hoffman (5th, 18:55).
