In an exciting season opener, the Lakota East Boys Soccer team battled to a 2-2 draw against the visiting Milford Eagles. The game remained scoreless until midway through the second half when Milford broke the deadlock, taking a 1-0 lead. Lakota East responded with under ten minutes to play as senior Chris Mfuranzima netted an unassisted goal to bring the score to 1-1.
Milford regained the lead with just under five minutes remaining, putting Lakota East on the back foot once again. However, the Thunderhawks showed resilience in the dying moments of the match. In a dramatic finish, senior Shaun Dickerson delivered a precise free kick that found the head of Juan Bartolon-Perez, who equalized with just one second left on the clock.
