Lakota East boys soccer played to a 1-1 tie on the road Saturday against Summit Country Day in a match where they struck first. The Thunderhawks opened the scoring in the first half with a goal by Chris Mfuranzima, assisted by Shaun Dickerson, who made history with the assist.

Dickerson’s 20th career assist not only helped put Lakota East ahead, but also broke the school’s all-time assist record previously held by 2018 graduate Jak Birdsong. His perfectly timed pass set up Mfuranzima to finish clinically in the 34th minute, giving the Thunderhawks an early advantage.

Summit Country Day battled back and found an equalizer in the second half, leveling the score at 1-1 in the 65th minute. Both teams pressed for a winner, but strong defensive performances from both sides prevented any further goals.

Lakota East will look to capitalize on this momentum as they prepare for their next game, while Shaun Dickerson’s record-breaking assist adds a proud chapter to the Thunderhawks’ soccer legacy.

The Hawks (6-3-3, 5-2) will host Turpin on Tuesday.
