The East boys soccer team opened up their season last night with a road win against, GMC opponent, Hamilton Big Blue by a score of 3-0.
The Hawks scored in the 9th minute of the match when senior captain, Khaled Eid, finished a penalty kick putting the Hawks up 1-0. In the 18th minute of the match, Eid found his second goal of the game by firing a shot 12 yards out past the diving Big Blue keeper making the score 2-0, a goal assisted by senior captain, Jacob Nguyen.
With a minute left in the first half senior, Ty Langhorn, headed in a corner kick taken by senior captain, Gavin Hook making the score 3-0. The Hawks created many scoring opportunities throughout the second half but were unable to put the finishing touch on the ball. Senior goalkeeper, Kobe Foster, recorded the shutout with 5 saves on the day.
East plays their home opener Tuesday, August 30 against the Loveland Tigers. East record is 1-0-0 (1-0-0 GMC).
