The Lakota East Boys Soccer team secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Princeton on Thursday night, moving their record to 6-3-2 overall and 5-2 in the GMC.

Chris Mfuranzima was the standout player for the Thunderhawks, scoring two crucial goals in the first half. His first came in the 30th minute, when he found the back of the net off a sharp assist from Shaun Dickerson. Princeton responded quickly, equalizing just a minute later with a goal in the 31st minute.

Mfuranzima struck again in the 35th minute, once again assisted by Dickerson, to give Lakota East a 2-1 lead going into halftime. Dickerson's second assist of the night was historic, tying him with 2018 graduate Jack Birdsong for the all-time career assists record at Lakota East with 19.

Princeton continued to battle and leveled the score once again in the 73rd minute. However, with just minutes left in regulation, Lakota East earned a penalty kick. Luis Perez-Luna stepped up and calmly converted from the spot in the 78th minute to secure the 3-2 win for the Thunderhawks.

Lakota East will look to carry this momentum into their next match when they travel to face Summit Country Day on Saturday afternoon.
