East Football earned a big GMC win at Middletown on Friday night. The Hawks' defense stepped up in the last 10 seconds of the game to block a Middie PAT to preserve a hard-fought and much-needed 14-13 victory.
The two teams were 0-0 at the half. Middletown scored halfway thru the 3rd quarter, but East rallied later with a 7-yard Eric Davis run. Davis got another rushing TD at 7:07 in the fourth to give the Hawks a 14-7 advantage. The Middies scored late but could not convert the extra point.
East QB Aidan Troutman was 4/9 for 44 yards passing. Eric Davis was East's offensive threat rushing for 131 yards on 30 carries and two TDs.
East (1-3, 1-2) goes back on the road this Friday to face the Big Blue of Hamilton. Hamilton fell 26-0 last week to Princeton.
