East and West battled in an offensive shootout last Friday before a sell-out crowd. GMC leadership was on the line as well as backyard bragging rights for another year.
Their were lots of fireworks from both teams early in the game with the Firebirds taking a 28-21 lead at the half. In the 2nd half the two teams defenses settled in, but East could not match the West output and fell in their rivalry game by a score of 42-24.
Senior Jamison Kitna was 17/26 for 274 yards passing and two TDs. Ryder Hooks rushed for 91 yards on 13 carries and a TD. Jayden Seay caught 4 passes for 102 yards and a TD. Cohen Riep was the recipient of Kitna's other TD toss.
Connor Kruse and Reip had 11 and 10 tackles, respectively.
East (6-3, 6-2) will visit Oak Hills (4-5, 3-5) this Friday for the regular-season finale. The Highlanders defeated Fairfield this past weekend 21-18.
