East Girls Bball pushed their GMC record to 7-1 on Saturday with a 50-35 win at home vs. Fairifield. The Hawks opened up a big lead in the 3rd quarter and never looked back.
Three players were in double-digits: Brooke Asher 17, Bella Sturgill 13 and Addyson Johnson 10.
East (8-5 overall) will visit Middletown on Wednesday.
Lakota East Narrowly Falls to Sycamore 54-50
The Lakota East Thunderhawks put up an effort but came up short in a 54-50 loss to the Sycamore Aviators. Several players delivered notable performances in the tightly contested 2nd half.
Brooke Asher was the standout for Lakota East, leading all scorers with 18 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting, including two 3-pointers. She also chipped in 2 steals to spark the defense. Bella Sturgill added 13 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed 5 rebounds and tallied 2 assists in a strong all-around effort. Bailey Bacher showcased her versatility, contributing 8 points while leading the team with 9 rebounds and 6 assists, keeping Lakota East competitive throughout the game. Addyson Johnson chipped in 8 points on 4-of-7 shooting while adding 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal to round out a balanced team effort.
The Hawks (7-5, 6-1) are back in action on Friday in a special 6:00 pm start vs. Fairfield at home.
