On Wednesday night, East Girls Bball suffered their first GMC loss of the season, dropping a game at home to Sycamore by a score of 54-50. East opened a huge first quarter lead (19-2), but saw the Aves outscore them in each of the final three 8 minute periods.
Brooke Asher led East wit h18 points and Bella Sturgill added 13.
The Hawks (7-5, 6-1) are back in action on Friday in a special 6:00 pm start vs. Fairfield at home.

Lakota East secured a 41-34 win over Oak Hills in a key GMC matchup, with dominant performances from Bella Sturgill and Brooke Asher. Sturgill led the Thunderhawks with 22 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 1 steal, controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. Asher added 14 points, including three big three-pointers, and helped seal the win with strong perimeter shooting.
The Thunderhawks' defense and rebounding proved crucial, as they out-rebounded Oak Hills 34-14, limiting the Highlanders to just 7 first-half points. The win improves Lakota East’s record to 7-4 as they continue their strong conference play.
In a thrilling Greater Miami Conference matchup at the Cintas Center, the Lakota East girls' basketball team emerged victorious over Princeton, securing a 46-41 win. The Thunderhawks were led by the stellar performance of Bella Sturgill, who poured in 19 points, including an impressive 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Sturgill also contributed six rebounds, one assist, and one block to her all-around effort.
Brooke Asher added 13 points, showcasing her versatility with seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Asher’s playmaking and hustle were pivotal in helping Lakota East maintain control throughout the game. Bailey Bacher also played a key role, contributing 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
As a team, the Thunderhawks displayed excellent ball movement, finishing with 11 assists on 14 made baskets, underscoring their unselfish approach to offense. The balanced scoring and strong defensive efforts helped Lakota East hold off a tough challenge from Princeton and come away with a crucial conference win.
