The Lakota East women’s cross country team placed 4th at the Loveland Sunset Invitational Friday night, and while fast times were expected, the hotter-than-expected conditions prevented that from happening for a lot of the runners.
Senior, Jocey Willis, ran a strong race to place 7th overall in the 146-runner field. Her time was 20:13.6 for the 5k (3.1-mile) course.
Freshman, Ava Dickenson, was the second Hawk across the line in 21:10 for a 14th place effort. The #3 runner for East was junior, Meredith Brown, who tied her season-best time of 21:57 to place 23rd overall.
Also tying her season-best effort was freshman, Maddie Still. She ran a 22:20 to place 29th overall. Rounding out the scoring for the Thunderhawks was sophomore, Emme Nguyen, who placed 31st overall in a time of 22:23.
The next race for Lakota East Cross Country is the Milford Invitational on Saturday, September 17th at Pattison Elementary School in Milford, OH.
