The East Cross Country team competed at the Mason Invite on Saturday. The varsity girls continue to improve every week, lead once again by junior phenoms Ava Dickenson and Molly Deardorff who ran from the front pack the whole way and grabbed 3rd and 6th place finishes, respectively, en route to season PRs for both women. Elise Brown continued her resurgence with a season PR and a third place finish for the Hawks. The senior trio of Sarah Rieger, Alyssa Brunk, and Emme Ngyuen rounded out the scoring for the Hawks to help secure a very respectable 8th place finish.
In the women's open, all 7 runners posted season or lifetime bests on a brutally hilly course at Mason. Notably, senior Hannah Kohlhaas set a personal best by nearly 90 seconds, proving that she is as tough as they come. Sophomore Megan Hoffman returned to her true form, shaving off over 3 minutes from last week to finish at 23:09. Each of the runners stepped in a huge way and their hard work is already paying off.
The Hawks are back in action Saturday at the Springboro Invitational.
