The Lakota East girls cross country teams represented their school at the Region IV Championships last Saturday at Troy.
The girls team built on massive momentum from last week at the district championship race. Molly Deardorff ran a bold race, taking control of the chase pack en route to a massive fourth place finish. Ava Dickenson mixed it up with some of the best runners in the state, fighting to an 11th place podium finish. Alyssa Brunk, Elise Brown, and Sarah Rieger continued their late season pushes to complete the scoring for the Hawks. Emme Ngyuen and Ava Kohlhaas ran very tough to help push East to a very respectable 9th place finish in the deepest region in the state.
Deardorff and Dickenson qualified for the State Championship at Fortress Obetz on Saturday and will look to prove themselves as some of the best runners in the state.
Huge thank you to seniors Blake Gibbs, Luke Huggins, Evan Aponte, Evan Watterson, Sarah Rieger, Emme Ngyuen, and Alyssa Brunk. Their leadership and character will be missed immensely.
