Putter's Lakota East Athletes of the Week for 9/16/21
JOCEY WILLIS
Jocey is a junior on the East Girls Cross Country Team.
Jocey has led the Lakota East women’s cross country team in each of her three races in 2021. After struggling a bit in her first two meets, Jocey cut an entire minute off of her previous season-best, to place 5th overall at the Troy Twilight Invitational. Her time for the 5k (3.1-mile) race was 19:41.5, a season-best. Jocey continues to get stronger in workouts and appears to be on track to break her lifetime best performance of 18:56 this Fall.
WILL TENOEVER
Will is a senior on the East Boys Cross Country Team
Will was the first Lakota East Cross Country runner to dip below 17 minutes this Fall when he ran a 16:53.1 at the Lebanon Running Warrior Invitational. That performance earned him 7th place overall in the Varsity event. Will’s lifetime best performance is 16:36 from his 2020 campaign, and he looks poised to overcome that mark very soon. Will’s next competition will be the Milford Invitational on August 18th.
