Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks lost the lead late in an 8-3 defeat to Hamilton on Monday. The game was tied at three with Hamilton batting in the top of the fifth when Payge Iglesia singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
Hamilton captured the lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for Hamilton.
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks evened things up at three in the bottom of the fourth inning when Destiny Zimmer grounded out, scoring one run.
After Hamilton scored one run in the top of the third, Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks answered with one of their own. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks then answered when an error scored one run for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Emili Shappacher got the win for Hamilton. The bulldog lasted seven innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out four.
Kaitlyn Haiber toed the rubber for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. The bulldog allowed two hits and three runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Lilly Sepelak threw three and a third innings out of the bullpen.
Hailey Hensley went 1-for-3 at the plate to lead Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks in hits. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks stole five bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Tessa Koziel led the way with two.
East (3-6, 3-3) will visit Oak Hills TODAY, 4/12, and then play at Springboro on Thursday.
