Softball Powers Through Colerain

Amber Munoz hit two home runs and drove in seven as Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks defeated Colerain Cardinals 19-4 on Thursday, 3/27. Munoz homered in the third and fourth innings.
Kaleigh Crawford struck out 10 batters on the day. The starter also gave up one hit and four runs over five innings while walking four.
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks opened the scoring in the first after Abrie Schulte hit a grand slam to center field.
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks scored eight runs on six hits in the top of the second inning. Haley Thompson singled, scoring one run, Karli Damen doubled, scoring three runs, Kaylor Schultz singled, scoring one run, Schultz scored after tagging up, Munoz doubled, scoring one run, and Thompson doubled, scoring one run.
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks scored four runs in the top of the third on a grand slam to left field by Munoz.
Three more Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 19-0. Yorie Schulte doubled, scoring one run, and Munoz homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Alexa Hartwig took the loss for Colerain Cardinals. The hurler went three and one-third innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking three. Trinity Woods stepped in the circle first for Colerain Cardinals. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and 12 runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking seven.
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks accumulated 16 hits in the game. Munoz and Thompson were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected four hits for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Schultz, Damen, and Schulte each collected multiple hits for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks had patience at the plate, amassing 10 walks for the game. Crawford, Schulte, and Lilly Banks led the team with two walks each. Schultz and Banks each stole multiple bases for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game.
Woods, Rylee Selmeyer, and D Logan each drove in one run for Colerain Cardinals. M Wilson went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Colerain Cardinals in hits.
