Softball Soars Over Colerain

Yorie Schulte drove in four runs on two hits to lead Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks past Colerain 19-4 on Thursday. Schulte singled in the third inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the third inning, scoring two.
 
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks scored 15 runs in the third inning on the way to victory.  an error scored one run, Haley Thompson singled, scoring two runs, Karli Damen drew a walk, scoring one run, Schulte singled, scoring two runs, Maddie Offner singled, scoring two runs, Addison Morath doubled, scoring two runs, Amber Munoz singled, scoring one run, Kaylor Schultz singled, scoring two runs, and Schulte doubled, scoring two runs.
 
A hit by a pitch put Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks on the board in the bottom of the first.
 
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Munoz walked, Thompson lined out, and Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.
 
N Mcgwire hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fifth for the Colerain.
 
Damen earned the win for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. The hurler gave up seven hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Hartwig took the loss for Colerain. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing 19 runs (seven earned) on eight hits, striking out none and walking 12.
 
Munoz, Thompson, and Schulte each collected two hits for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks. Francis Campbell led Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 12 walks for the game. Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks turned one double play in the game.
 
Mcgwire provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Colerain with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 3-for-3 on the day.
 
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks will travel to Sycamore for their next game on Friday.
