The Hawk Softball team went thru a tough streak of losses over the past 7 days. The lost to Ross 4-2 on 4/13, 10-2 to Springboro on 4/15, 13-3 to Hamilton on 4/16 and 9-4 to Oak Hills on 4/17.
Kaleigh Crawford was dominant in the circle, as the hurler rang up 14 strikeouts in Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks's 5-3 victory over Sycamore Varsity Aviators on Saturday. Crawford surrendered four hits and three runs over seven innings while walking six.
Sycamore Varsity Aviators got on the board in the top of the first inning after Ariane Pichardo doubled, scoring one run, and CeCe Hirsch singled, scoring two runs.
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a single by Maddie Offner, a double by Amber Munoz, and a single by Haley Thompson.
A solo home run to center field by Thompson gave Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the fifth.
Avery Hartig took the loss for Sycamore Varsity Aviators. The lefty went six innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on 11 hits, striking out four and walking none.
Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks piled up 11 hits in the game. Thompson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Offner, Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks's number nine hitter, led the team with three hits in three at-bats. Abrie Schulte collected two hits for Lakota East Varsity Thunderhawks in three at bats. Offner stole three bases. Schulte had the most chances in the field with 14.
Hirsch went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Pichardo led Sycamore Varsity Aviators with two hits in four at bats. Sophie Woebkenberg paced Sycamore Varsity Aviators with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.
